Agriculture Mechanical Sprayer

An agricultural mechanical sprayer is a device used to apply liquids, such as pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, and liquid manure, to crops or soil. There are two main types of mechanical sprayers: knapsack sprayers and boom sprayers.

  • Knapsack sprayers are worn on the back of the operator and are typically used for small areas or spot treatments.

  • They are powered by a manual pump that pressurizes a tank of liquid. The liquid is then forced out of a nozzle and onto the target area.

  • Boom sprayers are towed behind a tractor or other vehicle and are used for spraying large areas. They have a long boom with nozzles that spray the liquid over a wide area. Boom sprayers can be pressure sprayers, which work in the same way as knapsack sprayers, or air-assisted sprayers, which use a fan to help propel the liquid through the air. Mechanical sprayers are a relatively simple and inexpensive way to apply liquids to crops. However, they can be labor-intensive to use, and they can be difficult to achieve uniform coverage. In recent years, there has been a trend towards the use of more automated spraying systems, such as self-propelled sprayers and GPS-guided sprayers. These systems can help to improve the efficiency and accuracy of spraying operations.
